Native Plant Gardening

Native Plant Gardening Workshop
This three hour workshop on gardening with drought-resistant native plants will:
Identify native plants
Review the benefits of native plants
Teach how and where to grow native plants
Offer tips for reducing or eliminating lawns
Inform how to create special natural habitats, such as meadows, thickets, woodlands
Discuss how to attract wildlife to the garden
Include an informative tour of the native plant garden
Review CRD Water Services conservation programs
Instructor: Patricia Johnston, Native Plant & Waterwise consultant.
Each workshop is limited to 18 participants and pre-registration is required.
Workshops are held in the Spring and Fall.

Rhod show and sale

Victoria Rhododendron Society Annual Show and Sale
The VRS Show and Sale is being held this year on April 26 at Glendale Gardens, 505 Quayle Road. Show from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. Sale starts at 9:00 am. If you're looking for a hard to find rhodo make sure to come early. Admission to the show is by donation. This year our show and sale is in conjunction with Glendale Garden's sale of perennials

Victoria Horticultural Society meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm
at the Garth Homer Centre, 813 Darwin Avenue in Saanich
(extra parking at Saanich Municipal Hall parking lot).
There are no meetings held in the months of January and August.

Annual Book and Magazine Sale!!
The library’s annual book and magazine sale takes place at the May meeting. Although past sales comprised lots of magazines and a handful of books, this year the sale has a load of books. So, bring your wallet and a lot of change (our books and magazines are very, very cheap) and stock up on some reading.
If you have any books or magazines – gardening or anything else – that you would like to donate to the sale, please call Joan at 598-7386.
